Thank you, Derek Morgan

"As you’re giving it attention, you are now including the vibration of your desire in your current vibration. Your current vibration is what the Law of Attraction responds to." -Michael J. Losier, Law of Attraction

A couple weeks ago, my daughter and I attended a college fair. We went to three workshops about the college experience and planning, and visited with reps from about a dozen colleges. It was a great day; we learned a lot and my daughter came away with a solid plan.

After the event, we decided to go out for a late lunch, my daughter's treat. I love it when my kids take me out for lunch. Once we were seated, we met our server, Gianna. I mentioned that we'd come from the college fair. She told us that she's a graduate student at the university that hosted the fair. She had graduated with a bachelor's and continued on for a master's degree.

"What's your degree in?" I asked.

"Criminal justice," she replied.

I pointed at my daughter. "She's going to major in criminology."

Gianna asked my daughter what she wants to do with the degree and my daughter replied as she always does, "I want to work at the FBI."

That answer always...ALWAYS...prompts the next question. "Do you watch Criminal Minds?"

Enter Derek Morgan.

Derek Morgan is a fictional character from Criminal Minds, played by Shemar Moore.

The man should have his own theme song. As Garcia says in the show, he's a statuesque god of sculpted chocolate thunder.

My daughter's enthusiasm about Derek Morgan was on par with Gianna's and we had a whole conversation about the man. The legend. The statuesque god of sculpted chocolate thunder.

I digress.

Do we watch Criminal Minds? Well, if you've known me longer than five minutes, you know it is my favorite show to binge. And, yes, it is what inspired my daughter to pursue a career with the FBI. She's really interested in sociology. She's taken sociology, psychology, forensics, and criminal justice as dual enrollment, meaning she gets college credit for them, and those courses have reinforced her passion.

During lunch, my daughter and I played food trivia with the cards on the table. We laughed so hard my belly hurt. Did you know that an avocado is also called an alligator pear? That's not funny at all, but I was so hysterical I couldn't even say it. Gianna had to help me out.

We enjoyed an amazing appetizer with a chipotle sauce for dipping, which Gianna recommended and it was fabulous. Our meal was also fabulous. And then the bill came.

"I really like you guys," Gianna said, "so I talked to my manager and your appetizer is on me."

I've been doing a lot of self-work lately, practicing the Law of Attraction and Happy for No Reason. Both practices encourage the power of positive thinking to manifest what you want in life.

The Law of Attraction responds to how you feel about what you say and how you feel about what you think. -Michael J. Losier, Law of Attraction

We had so many positive experiences that day and we were excited and happy and just living our best life. And from that, we manifested a free appetizer. Maybe not a big deal in the big picture, but even small wins are wins. That free appetizer just made our day that much better.

Be happy. Let your happiness shine. Share it with others. And never miss an opportunity to talk about Derek Morgan.
